Coaching Through Change & Disruption

Jen Margolis | October 29, 2026

Let’s get you equipped for the purpose conversation.

Sooner or later, every coach sits with a client who feels lost. They’re capable, accomplished, and they’ve reached a point where they’re starting to question their situation, themselves, their role, their impact, where they thought they’d be by now. They tell us they feel “stuck,” “confused,” or “unsure” about where they are in their work and life. They might say they know they have more to give, or that they need to make some moves but don’t know where to start and can’t see the next steps. You may notice your clients bringing more of these questions into their sessions, because our working lives are changing faster than most of us can keep up with.

According to a 2025 Gallup study, fewer than one in five employees (18%) say their current job aligns with a sense of purpose they believe in. Layer AI on top of that. As machines take over more routine tasks and decisions, many of us are left asking: what do I uniquely have to contribute that a machine can’t? Most of us, at some point, run into questions that point to purpose, often during moments of transition in work and life. The AI shift is giving all of us a push toward that question, and most people don’t have the right questions, structure, or tools to do the work. Coaches who show up equipped hold the power to do deeply transformational, meaningful work in service of their clients’ long-term well-being, confidence, and clarity.

When purpose questions come up with clients, it’s natural to meet the moment with the coaching structure we’re all trained in, plus some improvisation. We hold space, ask our best questions, and hope the client finds their way to something meaningful. But purpose questions open the door to deep work, and people can’t always see their own purpose clearly from the inside. It’s work that’s best done in partnership, and coaching may be the very best space for it. When people try to do purpose work alone, they might name a few strengths, or feel good about their values, but when it comes to the sense-making and reflection that lets them actually articulate a purpose they can carry forward, they grab an answer that sounds good but doesn’t quite fit, or stays far too surface. What they need is a real process, and someone who knows how to coach them through it.

That’s what this session gives you. Purpose in Practice is a clear, repeatable framework for coaching someone from stuck to clear about their purpose. We’ll move through it part by part, and for each part I’ll share the coaching strategies and nuances that make it work: how to set a client up, what to listen for, where people get stuck, and how to help someone name their purpose in a way that’s true and specific enough to act on, so they can take their next steps with confidence.

What you’ll walk away with:

  • A repeatable method for coaching purpose, so you’re never winging that conversation again
  • Real strategies for each part of the framework, including the spots where clients get stuck
  • A way to meet clients at the exact moment they feel lost, with clarity they can use
  • A specialty that sets your practice apart and gives clients a reason to send people your way
  • A chance to check in with me for support after you’ve tried it with clients

If you’d also like to go through the framework for yourself first, join us for a companion session the week before.

Purpose questions aren’t going away in coaching. Join us to become the coach who’s ready when clients bring them to the table.
